This picturesque resort of Mil Palmeras is a firm favourite for holiday makers on the Orihuela Costa in the southern area of Costa Blanca, with wonderful beaches and scenic views; it’s quieter than other resorts which add to its appeal. One of the most popular areas in Spain is the Costa Blanca as it is one of the top holiday destinations in Spain and indeed Europe. As everywhere the Romans settled in Mil Palmeras as it was a good location for the old trade route called the Via Augusta. Travellers would stop here and rest before they continued their journey; it was part of the old route from the Mediterranean Sea to Rome. Watch towers were built in the 16th century so they could defend the coast from attacks by pirates and foreign travellers.

From Mil Palmeras it is only a fifty minute drive from Alicante airport or twenty minutes from San Javier (Murcia) airport. There are 300 days of sunshine a year in Mil Palmeras, making it the perfect holiday destination. A great location to visit in the winter too, away from the long dark winters associated with North Europe.

Mil Palmeras translated from Spanish literally means a thousand palms and it best describes the lush greenery of this town. The seafront is home to the Marina club with wonderful cycling routes and walking paths and if you’re a fan or sports then lucky you! There is a whole range of amenities from renting pedallos, Jet skis and taking part in a game of volley ball to name just a few. Mil Palmeras beach is definitely one of the best beaches along the Orihuela Costa coastline.

A visit to the Lo Monte Natural Park which is a special reserve for birds is a must and an enjoyable day out. If you are a golf enthusiast you have the choice of an array of golf course within 4 km and if you want to travel further then currently you have the option to visit around fifteen golf courses within an hours drive. If you love to shop you must visit the Zenia Boulevard it is the largest shopping centre in the province of Alicante. It has great shopping with well known brand names and has squares filled with cafes and restaurants, fountains and during the summer daily concerts. It’s the perfect location for families, couples and groups of friends who are looking for a laid back or a cosmopolitan styled holiday base.
