Spot Blue International Property means business when it comes to social media

Spot Blue International Property has been recognised as one of the most influential users of social media in the overseas real estate industry, with the on-line property agency occupying the top spot of an independent social media ranking and featuring consistently highly in another.

As of February 2016, Spot Blue is ranked the number one overseas agent for social media activity by Overseas Agent Networking, an on-line community for international property agents. This puts it ahead of other leading brands, many of them internationally recognised companies, including Rightmove Overseas, France Property Shop and Knight Frank France. Spot Blue’s specialist ski home website, Skiingproperty.com, also features on the same list, ranked in a respectable 16th place.

In addition, Spot Blue achieves 12th place in Zoopla’s highly regarded ‘Property Power 100’ table, which ranks 100 estate agents for their social media influence, based on their ‘Klout’ score. The social networks that influence a user’s Klout score are Twitter, Facebook, Google+, LinkedIn, Instagram, Foursquare, Wikipedia and Klout itself.

“Our efforts over the past year to up our game in social media and digital marketing are paying off,” said Julian Walker, director at Spot Blue International Property. “This type of marketing complements the more traditional channels, and choosing to ignore it risks alienating a large portion of your target market. That 320 million people around the world now actively use Twitter speaks volumes, and the evolution of mobile apps has made connecting with consumers immediate and relatively simple. Today, it’s as much about imagery as words. Social media, such as Twitter and Instagram, are ideal for promoting property thanks to the ability to broadcast stunning pictures. Recent stats show that on average a visual tweet sees 18 per cent more clicks than a text-only post.”

Spot Blue has active Twitter, Instagram, Google+, Pinterest, Facebook and LinkedIn accounts. It also has an established Wikipedia entry. Continued Julian Walker: “Understanding the strengths of each type of social media is crucial to making them work best for your products or services. So while we might use Instagram and Twitter to showcase photos of a property, we might also use Facebook to highlight testimonials or recent blogs. And we are finding that posts on LinkedIn are a useful way to wave ideas and opinions in front of our peers and gain a ‘voice’ in the industry. We recently used it to comment on how candidates on the BBC’s Apprentice managed as estate agents, a post that proved popular.”
